There is a sinful tendency in us to be captivated by temporal, fleeting realities. Jesus teaches us that riches and earthly security are a false hope on the last day.

In his sermon "Heaven and Hell on Earth/Heaven and Hell Hereafter" from Luke 16:19-31, Pastor Erik calls on us to examine our lives in light of the rich man (who is called Dives), who's story is a warning against the danger of being ensnared by the deceit of riches.
Are you working for goats or living by grace? Here's a clip from "Prodigal Righteousness Meets Prodigal Grace". One of the sins that characterizes the 'older brother' in the parable of the prodigals is that he is as offended by grace as he is by sin.
